eyebrows. You want to introduce me to bunch of werewolves who
probably want to kill me? he asked.
Liam snorted. He couldn t imagine Lio being afraid of alphas.
They are not going to kill you, and you re going to meet them
eventually. Why not now?
Lio shrugged. Fine. You drive.

Haven t changed your opinion, then? Lio asked once Liam
parked in front of nondescript motel. Liam turned engine off and gave
him a bland look.
I m allowed to ask, Lio said, pulling his seat belt off. Liam
leaned in so suddenly he could see he d startled Lio. He grabbed the
other man s head and sealed his lips over Lio s. Lio s mouth opened
and he gasped as Liam intensified the kiss. They were both breathing
harshly when they separated.
I ll take that as a no, then, Lio said, breathless.
Do that, Liam replied shortly, pushing the car open. He had to
pause to get himself under control.
Looking over the car top at Lio, he was strangely satisfied to see
that his lover didn t look unaffected either. He was breathing fast, and
there was a faint flush to his cheeks. He pulled back abruptly then
jerked his head toward the building, avoiding looking at Lio.
 Come on, he ordered.
The motel was small, and they avoided reception desk, heading
straight for the cheap room. They d tried for inconspicuous. It would
be easier to meet in the house of any of the alphas, but most shifters,
especially alphas, would react badly to what they perceived as a threat
to their authority, the Council s warnings notwithstanding. He still

remembered how on edge they were meeting at Brian s house. It was
clear at least Marcus had understood it as Brian s move to control the
rest of them. Liam grimaced. Marcus was an idiot, but still it was
better for all of them if they stuck to neutral territory for the meeting.
You re late, Marcus snapped as soon as they were inside then
pushed himself forward from the wall. And what the hell is he doing
here?
Behind him, Jared rolled his eyes. Apparently, Liam wasn t the
only one who thought Marcus was an idiot.
Quentin opened his mouth to interfere, but Liam beat him to it.
He is with me, he said flatly, closing the door after Lio and pausing
to give Marcus a flat look. With the two of them facing each other,
and the other four people in the room, the space suddenly seemed
small.
Marcus s nostrils flared.
Calm down, Marcus, Jared said. Don t you remember what
Liam said? Lio was the one who recognized green silver. It s not like
he doesn t know what this is about.
Hi, Lio, Brian said with a sigh, apparently not bothered by his
presence. He was sitting on the bed, his back to the wall, and hadn t
moved an inch since they came in.
Lio wrapped both arms around Liam, resting his head on Liam s
shoulder. It was a telling move, which practically dared wolves to
comment.
Brian. Jared. Quentin, Lio replied. Liam felt him cock his head.
Marcus. Liam smothered a laugh. So he knew who they were, was
able to recognize them on the spot, and wasn t above making it
known.
I still don t think he should be here, Marcus insisted stubbornly.
Get over it, Quentin told him, annoyed. Marcus clamped his
mouth shut, glowering at Lio. Quentin ignored him, turning to Liam.
 So what happened?

Liam and Lio exchanged looks, and then Liam recounted what
happened, Lio occasionally filling in. Lio moved from him, and he
missed him immediately.
You didn t get anything from the guy then? Quentin asked
shrewdly.
Liam shook his head. He was still displeased about that, but there
was nothing to be done. They had to move forward.
No. We might trace whoever disposed of him, but it s not a sure
thing, he answered honestly.
Quentin swore aloud. And in the meantime, his friends could use
green silver.
We should have expected this, Marcus muttered. No one
answered him. Marcus raised his chin. Come on, you had to know
the humans weren t going to help us.
We are working on this, Lio said. He d been quiet until now.
Liam tensed when Marcus laughed derisively.
You don t expect us to seriously believe you are on our side
now.
 I m not, Lio said.
Marcus strode toward him until they were nose-to-nose. Liam
tensed, but Jared put a hand on his arm and mouthed wait. Liam
glared at him, but stayed where he was. It wasn t like Lio couldn t
take care of himself.
You want to know what I think? I think you planned all this. I
think we need to ask you were that stash of green silver is, or even if
it exists, Marcus taunted.
Moving too quickly for anyone to stop him, he slammed Lio into
the wall, and Liam balled his hands into fists. The force wasn t
enough to seriously hurt Lio, but he disliked seeing other man s hands
on Lio. Marcus turned his head and flashed a cruel smile at Liam, [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ]
